Besides breathtaking scenery, the region surrounding Lake Te Anau abounds with some of New Zealand's best fishing rivers and lakes and it is also considered the walking capital of New Zealand with dozens of well maintained walking tracks nearby including the renowned Milford Track, Routeburn Track and the Kepler Track.

Go Milford Coach & Cruise

The best way to see Milford Sound! Sit back and relax in a small, personal group. Local drivers provide commentary for your drive into Milford. Travel in luxury from Te Anau to Milford Sound deep in the heart of Fiordland. Enjoy the comfort of modern coaches with leather seats, temperature controlled comfort and panoramic views from every seat (some coaches with glass viewing roof as well). On arrival at Milford Sound you would join the join the "Discover More Cruise " with Southern Discoveries. This cruise is 3 hours long and includes a trip right out to the Tasman Sea (weather permitting), and you also get a BBQ Buffet Lunch on board the boat. During the 3 hour excursion this boat gives you all the time and space to get up close and personal with this breathtaking region, as well you will receive a tour of the incredible "Milford Deep" Underwater Observatory where you will go below the fiord to view unique marine life. Back on the coach at around 2.45pm for your return to Te Anau and reflect on the incredible day that you have enjoyed.

Milford Sound

Milford Sound is awe-inspiring and getting there is definitely part of the experience. You can either take a coach from Te Anau or self drive on one of the finest alpine drives in the world. Come and see us at the office to book one of the many amazing cruises on Milford Sound. The cruises go close to waterfalls, you may see dolphins, seals & penguins. Enjoy a relaxing atmosphere and informative commentary cruising in this magical part of the world.
Try the premium Discover More Cruise with Southern Discoveries. Get closer, for longer on this great value all inclusive cruise. You are able to cruise at midday without the large groups and take in the informative commentary from the local Nature Guides. This trip includes a BBQ buffet lunch and a trip to the Milford Deep Underwater Discovery Centre

Alternatively try the Nature and Scenic Cruises with Southern Discoveries. These trips are fabulous and offer a variety of timings throughout the day.

Local Tip: Try a Nature cruise in the morning. Milford Sound is stunning and generally calm in the morning, there are less people around and it frees up your entire afternoon to do many of the scenic stops on your trip back to Te Anau

Doubtful Sound

A day excursion into this pristine fiord begins with a cruise across beautiful Lake Manapouri to West Arm followed by a coach ride over Wilmot Pass, pausing along the way to experience the dense Fiordland rainforest and view Doubtful Sound glistening far below.  Next enjoy a three-hour cruise exploring Doubtful Sound. You may be lucky enough to see the resident pod of Bottlenose Dolphins or the fur seals may be out to play. The excursion also includes a visit to the Manapouri Underground Power Station.

Te Anau Glow Worm Caves

Hidden beneath the mountains on Lake Te Anau’s western shores is an underground network of caves lit by thousands of glowworms which has been described as “one of the most unusual limestone cave experiences on the planet”. A visit to the Te Anau Glowworm Caves is a must-do for anyone visiting Fiordland. The tour explores the mysterious underground world of rushing water before drifting in silent darkness beneath the luminous shimmer of thousands of glowworms. 
Trips run all year round and are 2 and a quarter hours long.
Price: $75 per adult $22 per child
Time: Times vary throughout the year, general timings are 9.00am, 2.00pm, 5.45pm, 7.00pm and 8.15pm

Fly Jet Boating

Experience the exhilaration of a jet boat journey on the mighty Waiau River then transfer to a floatplane for part two of your adventure. Your flight will take you to the world renowned Doubtful Sound, before heading back to Lake Te Anau. 

Tramping / Hiking

Besides breathtaking scenery, the region boasts some of New Zealand's best fishing rivers and lakes and it is also considered the walking capital of the New Zealand with dozens of well maintained walking tracks nearby, including the renowned Milford Track, Routeburn Track and the Kepler Track. Horse Trekking

Enjoy 360 degrees of panoramic mountain views of Lake Te Anau, the Te Anau township and the surrounding mountain ranges, wildlife reserve and farm land. Accompanied by very experienced guides and horses, all levels of ability are catered for. Small groups are a feature of the trek, as are the horses who are known for their responsiveness and individual character. We have horses to suit all levels of riders confidence. Beginners and people with no previous experience are welcome - these horses are calm and will look after you.

Highride Quad Bikes 

Take a fun packed adventure in the stunning Te Anau back country with a breath-taking quad bike ride. Explore Te Anau's rugged back-blocks on this exhilarating and challenging guided trip that is fun for everyone and caters for all skill levels. Enjoy breathtaking views across Lake Te Anau and down the middle Fiord while you drive over one of Lord of the Rings film locations. Loop back through the 2800 acre property of scrub, bush, creeks and lakes on your exciting ride home. All the gear is provided.
